Subsidy for storage of onions
Madhya Pradesh Horticulture Department has decided to give a grant of Rs 1,75,000 to the farmers of the state for the construction of onion storage house. Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), there is a target to set up 100 more new units in the state for 50 MT capacity onion storage house. For this, 10 districts application from farmers have demanded. 100 units will be formed in every district, in which 7 are earmarked for general category, 2 for scheduled caste and 1 for scheduled tribe.

According to the notification issued by the Madhya Pradesh Horticulture Department, grants will be given to the farmers of Dewas, Indore, Ujjain, Rewa, Shajapur, Sagar, Dhap, Khandwa, Rajgarh, Satna districts. The total cost of building the onion storage house has been fixed at Rs 3 lakh 50 thousand, on which 50 percent subsidy i.e. Rs 1 lakh 75 thousand will be given.
Take special care of these things
Although any farmer of the state can apply to open a store house of 50 metric tonnes of onions, but separate targets have been issued for these 10 districts. For this, the eligibility of the farmers will be determined accordingly.
- The farmer should have his own cultivable land.
- General category farmers are taking onion crop in 2 hectares and SC-ST category farmers in 1.75 hectares.
