Madras High Court asks Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev daughter married why he Encouraging Women To Live Like Hermits

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev: Madras High Court asked Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev of Isha Foundation questions on his teachings. Madras High Court Justice SM Subramaniam and Justice V Sivagnanam, during a hearing on Monday (September 30), asked him why he was asking the young women to adopt the methods of renunciation?

The Madras High Court asked that when Sadhguru’s own daughter is married and leading a good life, then why is he encouraging other young women to shave their heads, give up worldly life and live ascetics in his yoga centers ?

While hearing which case, the High Court made this comment?

These questions were raised during the hearing of the Habeas Corpus petition in the High Court on behalf of S Kamaraj, a retired professor of an agricultural university in Coimbatore. The petitioner claimed that his two educated daughters were brainwashed and kept in the Yoga Center of Isha Foundation.

According to the petitioner, the age of his two daughters is 42 and 39 years. However, the two girls who were allegedly held captive reached the Madras High Court on 30 September. During this, she told the bench that she was living in the Yoga Center of Coimbatore on her own free will and no one had taken her captive.

‘It is necessary to get to the bottom of the matter’

However, the Madras High Court, after talking to the girls for some time, decided to investigate the issue further. Shocked by this decision of the High Court, the lawyer of Isha Foundation said that the court cannot increase the scope of this case. To this, Justice Subramaniam replied that complete justice is expected from the court while exercising writ jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution and it is necessary to get to the bottom of the matter.

The High Court said that the court has some doubts regarding the case. When the lawyer wanted to know what they were, Justice Sivagananam said, “We want to know how a man who has married his daughter and settled her well in life, can make other’s daughters shave their heads and Why is it encouraging to live the life of an ascetic?

Responding to this, the lawyer said that an adult person has the right to choose his life and he is not able to understand this doubt. In response to this, the High Court said that you will not be able to understand this, because you are appearing on behalf of the party (Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev) in this case, but this court is neither in favor of anyone nor against anyone.

‘Ignoring parents is also a sin’

During the hearing, when the girls demanded to give their statement, the Madras High Court asked them, “You are talking about walking on the path of spirituality.” Is it not a sin to ignore your parents? The essence of devotion is to love everyone and hate no one, but we are seeing a lot of hatred in you for your family members. You are not even talking to him by giving him respect.

The lawyer appearing for the petitioner said that several criminal cases are going on against Isha Foundation and recently a case has been registered under the POCSO Act against a doctor working there.

‘Our life has become like hell’

The petitioner has said in the petition that his daughter obtained M.Tech degree from Britain and was earning Rs 1 lakh per month. In 2007, she married a man from Britain, but they got divorced in 2008. Only after this he started participating in the Yoga Center of Isha Foundation. Seeing him, his younger daughter also started staying in the yoga center.

The petitioner said that ever since my daughters have left us, the life of me and my wife has become like hell. He alleged that some kind of food or medicine was being given to his daughters in the yoga centre, due to which they lost their thinking power.
