Kannada Namo Bharath Movie Review: It seems as if March has brought ‘spring’ for cinema lovers. Many South films have been released on March 1, 2024. About two dozen films of Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam have come to entertain the audience. For those who are interested in films of a particular genre, the filmmakers of South have brought a lot of entertainment. From drama, thriller, action, horror, suspense, musical, crime and comedy to romantic-family, there are films for everyone. But here the discussion of one film remained in the media headlines, that is Kannada film – Namo Bharat.
Namo Bharath, of about 2 hours 18 minutes, was in the news because of its title. This can be called a modern drama film in the style of Manoj Kumar, who was once a popular actor in Hindi cinema. Manoj Kumar is also famous by the name of ‘Bharat Kumar’ due to his excellent acting in patriotic films.
The short name of the country’s current Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ‘NaMo’. Namo Bharat film is inspired by the efforts and inspirations of the Modi government to encourage farmers and soldiers. The actors of the film themselves admitted that their film salutes Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The story is also such that a farmer’s son imbued with patriotism becomes a soldier. Inspired by the Prime Minister, he returns to his village and brings about major changes. Namo Bharat seems to raise the slogan of ‘Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan’.
The entire burden or rather responsibility of ‘Namo Bharat’ rests on Ramesh S Parvinayakar. He is playing the role of ‘Bharat’ in the film. He has produced and directed the film as well. He is the writer of this film. Other cast members of the film include Bhavya, Sushma Raj, Sonali Pandit, Doddarange Gowda, Biradar and Miko Nagaraj.
Talking about behind the scenes, the music is by AT Ravish. Songs are written by Nagendra Prasad and Doddarange Gowda. Cinematography is by Gauri Venkatesh. Editing is done by M Sanjeev Reddy.
This film has been released at a time when farmers are agitating in the country. Apart from the problems of soldiers and farmers, their courage and solutions are shown in the film.
The shooting of the film was done for about 48 days in the cold winter of Kashmir. Ramesh S Parvinayakar had revealed in an interview that shooting in Kashmir was really difficult. Parvinayakar says that through this film he has tried to tell about the difficult times and struggles faced by Indian soldiers during their deployment in Kashmir and the plans of the Modi government to solve the problems of farmers in rural areas. How the Modi government eliminated terrorism from Kashmir, what decisions were taken in the interest of farmers…the film focuses on this.
The film’s heroine Sushma Raj has played the character of a girl who loves the village hero. Senior actress Bhavya has become a mother who inculcates the spirit of patriotism in her young son. The services of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh towards the country have also been honored in the film.
The situation in Kashmir is shown in the first half of the film. Like the life of soldiers and their fight against terrorism. After the interval, the lifestyle and struggle of farmers and other villagers living in the villages of North Karnataka is shown.
If we talk about the overall making of the film, it does not impress the audience much. The location of Kashmir could not be used as well as it should have been. The action also did not appear ‘South style’. It looked ridiculous at many places. The costume and make-up also looked mediocre.
Generally films related to terrorism create excitement among the Indian audience. It creates a frenzy of patriotism in them, but ‘Namo Bharat’ could not leave such an impression. Even in terms of acting, most of the actors could not impress. Editing and cinematography also did not look that perfect. Overall this is a below average film. Those who are inspired by ‘Modi magic’ can watch it.
