Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday (October 23) that BJP still wants to extend its support to MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray on Mahim assembly seat.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Nagpur said, “The chief minister also wanted us not to field any candidate against (Amit Thackeray), but there were some difficulties because many leaders believed that if they did not field a candidate, votes would go to Shiv Sena.” “We could have fielded Sarvankar. BJP’s stand is clear that we should support Amit Thackeray.”
He also said, “When we (Mahayuti leaders) meet, we will discuss and try to find a solution. However, every major political party in Maharashtra is facing the challenge of rebels in the assembly elections.”
Shiv Sena fielded candidate from Mahim
Actually, Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is not a part of the Mahayuti, but was part of it earlier this year. Devendra Fadnavis said that BJP is ready to support Amit and is still firm on its stand. Apart from this, the Deputy CM also said that his party will try to convince most of its rebels to withdraw their nominations, but he said that there will be friendly competition on some seats in the state elections to be held on November 20.
