Mahesh Bhatt On Rajesh Khanna Stardom: Mahesh Bhatt has made many great films. His films like ‘Aashiqui’ and ‘Sadak’ were quite famous. Recently, Mahesh Bhatt talked about the early days of his career and also shared memories of the time when he helped filmmaker Raj Khosla. During this, he also revealed that a veteran actor played an important role in his career.

Never seen stardom like Rajesh Khanna
In fact, during an interview with Radio Nasha, Bhatt revealed that he met Khosla during the last schedule of the film Do Raaste. The film starred Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz in lead roles. When Bhatt first met the famous director, the film’s iconic song “Tune Kajal Lagya Din Mein Raat Hogi” was being filmed.

Bhatt was amazed by Rajesh Khanna’s stardom, saying, “I have never seen stardom like Rajesh Khanna’s before. Nowadays stars benefit a lot from digital platforms. At that time, with only a few film magazines and limited prints, Rajesh Khanna managed to create a level of popularity that was never seen before.”

Without Vinod Khanna, I would not have been able to become what I am today
Talking about his work with Raj Khosla, Bhatt said, “We later made ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’ starring Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna. Vinod was not just a colleague but a great friend who played an important role in my life. Without him, I don’t think I would have become the person I am today.”

Bhatt further said, we shot ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’ in Udaipur. The songs of the film were amazing thanks to Anand Bakshi and Laxmikant Pyarelal. So, this is how my journey with Raj Khosla started. And after that we also made a film named ‘Do Chor’ starring Dharmendra. This film was directed by Raj Khosla’s assistant Padmanabh. He (Raj Khosla) was the producer. The film was shot in Goa. Then I started my journey and my first four films flopped. My journey was over even before it started, and then I saw Arth.
