Mahindra XUV 3XO Vs Tata Nexon: Mahindra has heated up the Indian sub-4 meter SUV market with the launch of XUV 3XO. This model is not only better than its previous model, but is also cheaper than all its main competitors. Now, to counter this and maintain its dominance, Tata Motors has launched a new base variant for the Nexon, called Smart (O). Today we will compare the entry-level variants of these two SUVs and see which car is a better deal to buy.

Mahindra XUV 3XO is available in nine variants, which include MX1, MX2, MX2 Pro, MX3, MX3 Pro, AX5, AX5 L, AX7 and AX7 L. However, the variant we will be talking about here today is the entry-level MX1 and it is available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 7.49 lakh.
Meanwhile, Tata Nexon is available in four trim levels; Smart, pure, creative and fearless. Talking about the new variants, Nexon has three variants, Smart (O), Smart+ and Smart+ S. The former is a petrol-powered version, while the latter two are available with diesel engines. Talking about the price, the new base-spec petrol variant of Nexon is available at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 7.99 lakh. In comparison, the MX1 variant of the XUV 3XO is Rs 50,000 more affordable than the Nexon Smart (O).

Both Mahindra XUV 3XO and Tata Nexon get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The Nexon is powered by a 3-cylinder Revotron unit that is capable of generating a peak output of 118bhp and 170Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Whereas, XUV 3XO gets mStallion petrol engine, which generates maximum output of 109bhp and 200Nm. XUV 3XO gets a 6-speed manual gearbox.
