Maidan: Fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Ajay Devgan starrer ‘Maidan’. This most awaited film of the year 2024 was to be released in theaters today on the occasion of Eid. However, now it seems that the release date of the film has been postponed. Actually this sports drama is stuck in legal trouble. Mysore Court has issued orders to ban the release of the film. Let us know what is the reason for this?

‘Maidan’ accused of stealing story

In fact, according to a report in News 18, a scriptwriter from Karnataka has alleged that the film produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios has been stolen from his script on the life of former Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. In such a situation, the Mysore Court has issued orders to ban the release of the film on the basis of the scriptwriter’s claim of plagiarism.

Mysore scriptwriter made this claim
Mysore writer Anil Kumar has shared his side of the story on LinkedIn. He wrote, “In 2010, I started writing the story and in 2018, I posted a poster about it, and I came in contact with ad director Sukhdas Suryavanshi through his LinkedIn post. He called me to Bombay (Mumbai) and asked me to bring the script. I have complete chat history. He told me that he would introduce me to Aamir Khan, but due to some reasons I could not meet him. I gave him the story and registered it with the Screen Writers Association. Sukhadas became assistant director in Suryavanshi Maidan.

Anil further said, “Recently, I heard that a film named Maidan is being released. I was surprised because I too have the same story. When I saw the teaser and his statement, I knew this was my story. He has made this film by distorting the main story itself. I named the story Padkanduka,”

Mysore Court imposed Ban on release of ‘Maidan’
After Anil went to the Principal District and Sessions Court of Mysore, the court ordered a ban on the release of the film. Now the next hearing of the case is to be held on April 24.
