For how long can President’s rule last

How long can President’s rule maximum be held in any state? Actually, rules have been made regarding this. Approval should be made by both houses of Parliament within two months from the date of the announcement of the implementation of President’s rule. Once approval from both houses is made, it can be applied for six months. However, it can be extended for a maximum of three years by six months.

How is the work done?

President’s rule is imposed by the President on the recommendation of the Governor. After this, all the powers of the state government come to the Governor. During this time, the Governor dissolves the Assembly and the Council of Ministers and the entire work is taken into his hands. Under Article 356, it has been said that during President’s rule, the use of the powers of the state legislature comes to the Parliament.

Parliament can make laws

The assembly is suspended during the period of President’s rule. In such a situation, Parliament uses its powers. After the implementation of President’s rule, the budget proposals and bills of the state are passed by Parliament. When Parliament is not running, the President can issue an ordinance for the state.
