Former Prime Minister of the country Manmohan Singh has now said goodbye to this mortal world. He breathed his last on the night of 26 December at AIIMS, Delhi. He was 92 years old. Where did Manmohan Singh live in Pakistan?
Let us tell you that Manmohan Singh was born on 26 September 1932 in Gah village in Chakwal district of Punjab province. After partition this part went to Pakistan. Manmohan Singh studied in the primary school of this village from 1937 to 1941. He studied in this school till fourth class, after which his family came to India.
When did Manmohan Singh’s family come to India?
When the uproar over partition started in the country, Manmohan Singh’s entire family left their home in Gah village and came to Amritsar. When he became the Prime Minister of India, he once expressed his desire to go to Pakistan, which was mentioned by Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Shukla in his book Scars Of 1947: Real Partition Stories.

Did this wish of Manmohan Singh remain unfulfilled?
According to Rajeev Shukla’s book, Dr. Manmohan Singh had said that he also wanted to go to his village in Pakistan. When he was asked whether he wanted to see his house, Manmohan Singh replied that my house was finished long ago. I just want to see the school where I studied till class four. However, he could not go to Pakistan during his tenure as Prime Minister and even after that.

Pakistan has preserved these things of Manmohan even today
Manmohan Singh became the first non-Hindu Prime Minister of India in 2004. After this, his Gah village in Pakistan came into limelight. In such a situation, the government of Punjab, Pakistan had announced to make Gah village a model village in 2007. At the same time, the school where Manmohan Singh studied was also named Manmohan Singh Government Boys Primary School. It is said that in this school, records from Manmohan Singh’s registration records to results have been preserved till date. The important thing is that the people of Gah village also remember Manmohan Singh very much. There is mourning in the village after receiving information about his demise. The people of the village say that because of Manmohan Singh their village could come in the list of model villages and it could be developed.
