Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Maratha reservation rights activist Manoj Jarange Patil in Maharashtra has made a big announcement on Wednesday (October 9). He has said that if the Maharashtra government does not accept the reservation demands of the Maratha community, then he will reveal his strategy for the assembly elections within 48 hours of the implementation of the code of conduct.

“If his supporters decide to contest the elections, they will contest as an independent candidate and will not form an alliance,” Manoj Jarange told PTI in a phone interview. They will also try to defeat the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP alliance.

He said, “We are waiting for the code of conduct. After the implementation of the code of conduct, if our demands are not accepted (by that time) then we will reveal our strategy for the assembly elections in the next 48 hours. Jarange has fasted several times in the last more than a year to press his demand for reservation for the Maratha community.

The Maratha reservation rights activist said, “I have done my work and have also prepared a strategy to contest the elections or defeat the candidates of the ruling parties. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis says that he has solved 80 percent of the question papers (80 percent of the work on seat distribution has been done) but I say that 80 percent of his work has been spoiled.

We have list of 113 candidates- Jarang

Asked about his claim that the disgruntled Maratha community is trying to defeat ruling alliance candidates in 113 constituencies, Jarange said, “If the Maratha reservation issue is not resolved, we have a list of 113 candidates.” Whom we want to defeat. But we will not form an alliance with anyone. If we decide to contest the elections, our candidates will contest as independent candidates.

When asked about BJP’s victory in the Haryana Assembly elections for the third consecutive time, he said, “The issues are different in every state. Everyone in Haryana must have voted for BJP. But BJP has a habit that after getting power, it abandons its helpers. There is an issue of Maratha community here and the movement is still going on.

He claimed that 55 percent of the people in Maharashtra belong to the Maratha community. “There are at least one lakh Maratha voters in almost every constituency,” Jarange warned. We have the capability to defeat the candidates.
