However, Makar Sankranti is also a festival of Tilkut along with curd, chuda and khichdi. For this reason, Tilkut is being sold everywhere in the market from grocer to grocery shop. Apart from this, Tilkut stalls have been set up at many places in the city by artisans called from Gaya. Where people are buying different varieties of Tilkut as per their choice and taking it home.
Tilkut is available in a dozen varieties
Dheeraj Singh, who is selling Tilkut, says that in view of the demand of the customers, not just one or two, but more than a dozen varieties of Tilkut are available in Gopal Tilkut Bhandar, which are prepared in front by the special artisans of Gaya. He told that they sell many varieties of Tilkut at different rates. Tilkut is available in his shop ranging from Rs 150 to Rs 800. While talking about variety, Tilakut made of sugar, jaggery, almonds and khoya is available here.
Selling Tilkut in Madhepura for 20 years
Talking to Local18, Dheeraj Singh, director of Gopal Tilkut Bhandar, said that for 20 years we have been selling Tilkut from our shop near Police Station Chowk in Madhepura, which is prepared by the special artisans of Gaya. He told that we start preparing for making Tilakut a month in advance. Only then are we able to provide pure and clean Tilkut to the customers. Dheeraj told that special care is taken of purity here. This is the reason why people from Madhepura, Singheshwar to Saharsa come here to buy Tilakut and also get parcels done.
