Margashirsha Purnima: Margashirsha month is the ninth month of the Hindu calendar. This month is considered very auspicious in astrology. This month is favorite of Lord Krishna. In this auspicious month, Lord Krishna is worshiped along with Goddess Lakshmi. According to mythological beliefs, the Satyayuga period started from the month of Margashirsha. The full moon coming in this month has special significance which is called Margashirsha Purnima.

Rules of Margashirsha Purnima fast
By observing fast and worshiping on the day of Margashirsha Purnima, one attains all the happiness. Lord Narayana is worshiped on this day. Therefore, after waking up in the morning and meditating on God, one should resolve to fast. After bathing, wear white clothes and do Aachmana. After this, while chanting Om Namo Narayan, offer fragrance and flowers to God. Make an altar at the place of worship and perform havan there. On this day, one should sleep near the idol of Lord Narayana at night. On the second day of the fast, one should feed a Brahmin or a needy person and send him off by giving him alms.
Significance of Margashirsha Purnima
On the day of Margashirsha Purnima, it is useful to do some work to get the blessings of Lord Vishnu. On this day, taking a bath with the soil of Tulsi root in a holy river, lake or pond brings blessings of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that donations made on this day yield 32 times more results than other full moon days. This is the reason why this full moon is also called Battisi Purnima.
Worshiping Lord Satyanarayan or listening to the story on the day of Margashirsha Purnima is very fruitful. On this day, by giving food and donations to the poor and Brahmins, Lord Vishnu is pleased and fulfills all the wishes.
