Mathura: If you want to sip tea, then go to the famous shop of Mathura. Here 200 to 300 kuladas of tea are sold every day. Once you drink the tea from here, you will not like the taste of tea from any other place in Mathura. This shop is about 60 years old. Local 18 spoke to the owner of this shop. He told how his tea tastes the best.
This tea shop was established in 1972
The birthplace of Shri Krishna in Mathura is very special and has its own unique belief, but the devotees coming here do not forget to sip tea from this shop after having darshan of Lord Shri Krishna. The price and taste are so great that once you take a sip of the tea here, you too will come running to it. Then you will not find good tea anywhere in the district. Whenever you reached this shop to sip tea, you would see a gathering of crowd.
Every day, along with devotees, local people also come here to sip tea. When Local 18 talked to shop owner Devkinandan Sharma about his shop, he told that this shop is about 60 years old and when tea was available at this shop for 15 paise. This shop was started by my father and from then till today we have been running this shop. Devkinandan Sharma told that in 1972, father Mohan Lal Sharma started selling tea at gate number one of the birthplace. Selling tea started at 15 paise during my father’s time.
Serves 25 teas for free
He told that as time passed the prices of tea also kept increasing. Devkinandan Sharma, while talking to Local 18, said that his father passed away in 2012. From then till today we are managing this shop. He said that tea is given at ₹5 and ₹10. Here people sip tea with rice. Not only this, he told that if those who do not bring money want to drink tea, then we also give them free tea when they come to the shop. Shop owner Devkinandan Sharma told that the shop remains open from 6 am to 8 pm. Baba and Swami are given 25 cups of tea free of cost.
