New Delhi. Every year MCD claims to clean the drains before monsoon. In this regard, it had announced to clean the drains this year too, but during the rain on Saturday evening in the capital, the drain overflowed and water entered the basement of the coaching centre and the girl students died due to drowning.

Every year, before the onset of monsoon, MCD prepares an action plan to clean all its drains by 15 June. It mentions the name, length and depth of the drains. Not only this, the action plan also contains an estimate of the silt coming out of each drain, but MCD is never able to complete the cleaning of drains within the stipulated time and every time the cleaning period is extended till 30 June. After this, it maintains silence regarding the cleaning of drains and suddenly says that the drains have been cleaned.
The former councillor had raised the issue a few days ago
Former councillor of Rajendra Nagar, BJP leader Rajesh Bhatia had raised the issue of drains not being cleaned in the area through social media. He said that the area’s AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak did not pay attention to the issue of drains not being cleaned by him, even though there is a common AAP government in the MCD and he is in charge of the MCD on behalf of the party.
