Medicines Failed in Quality Test : 53 medicines including paracetamol have failed the quality test. These include not only vitamins, sugar and blood pressure medicines but also antibiotics. The country’s largest drug regulatory body Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has released a list of these medicines.
The banned medicines include Clonazepam tablets used for attacks and anxiety, painkiller Diclofenac, Ambroxol used for respiratory diseases, anti-fungal Fluconazole and some multivitamins and calcium tablets. These medicines are manufactured in big companies like Hetero Drugs, Alkem Laboratories, Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL), Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited. What is the meaning of failed medicines
The failure of medicines in the CDSCO test means that they do not have all the qualities that are prescribed for a medicine. These medicines are fake. Their effect on the body may be less, they may also have side effects. One should avoid using such medicines.
Do medicines that fail the CDSCO test become useless?
According to health experts, if CDSCO has rejected any medicine, then it is useless because the formula on which it has been made has low standards. Consuming such medicines can cause many problems to the body. People have been asked to stay away from such medicines. Sometimes, due to the use of bad antibiotics, ordinary bacteria can become superbugs. Which can become an obstacle in treatment.

Like expiry date, can’t we consume medicines which fail the quality test?
Drug manufacturing companies do not give any guarantee about the effectiveness of the medicine after the expiry date. After the expiry date, the chemical composition of the medicine changes, which can make it dangerous. But this does not mean that the medicine becomes poisonous after the expiry date, but in the quality test, the medicines can work like poison.
What is CDSCO?
Indian Drugs Regulator Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) is the main body responsible for drugs, medical equipment and cosmetic regulation and standards in the country. It works under the Ministry of Health of the Central Government. It sets the quality standards of medicines and cosmetics.
