Here we are talking about Mehrangarh fort or Mehrangarh fort. Mehrangarh Fort is located right in the middle of Jodhpur city of Rajasthan. This fort is built at a height of about 125 meters. The foundation of this fort was laid by Rao Jodha in the 15th century, but its construction was completed by Maharaj Jaswant Singh. It is one of the oldest and largest forts in India. This fort is seen as a symbol of India’s rich past.

How was this fort built?

Only one year after becoming the 15th ruler of Jodhpur, Rao Jodha started feeling that the fort of Mandore was not safe for him. That’s why he decided to build a fort on a hill one kilometer away from his then fort. That hill was called ‘Bhor Chidiyatunk’, because a large number of birds lived there. It is believed that in 1459, Rao Jodha had laid the foundation of this fort.

the eighth door is mysterious

This fort with eight gates is surrounded by high walls. Although it has only seven gates (poles), but it is said that it also has an eighth gate which is mysterious. There are sharp nails on the first gate of the fort, which were installed to protect the door from the attack of elephants. There are many grand palaces, wonderful carved doors and lattice windows in the fort. In which Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana are special. There is also a temple of Chamunda Mata near the fort, which was built by Rao Jodha in 1460.
