Deepfake technology has been developed by misusing AI technology, through which cyber criminals create a fake version of any person, who can commit any work, crime, or mislead in the name of the real person. More than 20 tech companies from around the world are working together to deal with this threat of deepfake technology.
20 companies made a plan together
Deepfake is spreading rapidly in India and even big and popular people are becoming its victims. To deal with this, Mark Zuckerberg’s company Meta has entered into a new partnership with the Misinformation Combat Alliance i.e. MCA. Meta has informed that it will issue a WhatsApp helpline number to stop fake videos and posts created and spread through deepfake technology in India.
Let us tell you that to save people from the threat of deepfake videos, Meta has worked with 20 big tech companies like Google, Microsoft and Amazon and has now decided to release a WhatsApp helpline number in India. Through this helpline number, users will be able to easily report any fake video through their WhatsApp account.
Rashmika, Sachin and Virat also became victims of deepfake
Let us tell you that many cases of fraud using deepfake technology have come to light across the world. In India also, a fake video of actress Rashmika Mandhana, who has worked in blockbuster films like Animal and Pushpa, was made viral, in which she was seen in an obscene state. Apart from him, a deepfake video of India’s great former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was also made viral, in which his fake look was shown promoting an aviator company. After Sachin, recently a deepfake video of Virat Kohli has also gone viral on social media, in which Kohli’s fake form is seen promoting a betting platform.
To avoid this dangerous technology, governments of many countries and tech companies around the world have started taking action. Under this action, a new WhatsApp number is going to be issued, in which users will report about fake videos. According to MCA, they will create a deepfake analysis unit to ban such videos, which will work together with fact checking members. They will be able to see every message and content reported.
If any of the reported videos are found to contain AI generated content or spreading rumor messages, they will be immediately removed from the internet. Such fake messages will also be deleted from the internet. WhatsApp’s helpline number will work as a chatbot, which will facilitate reporting in Hindi, English as well as many other regional languages of India.
