Meta is testing DM feature in threads App

Meta Feature: Instagram is a photo sharing app of Meta, but it does not have any feature like blogging. To fulfill this deficiency, Meta launched a sub-app of Instagram, Threads Market, which gives users the feature of micro blogging site. It works much like Elon Musk’s X (old name Twitter).

New feature in threads

Threads has now passed a milestone of 130 million users, but one complaint still remains. Users cannot send direct messages through threads, which is a major drawback and users are constantly complaining about it.

However, now this problem of users can end, because Meta is working on including the feature of Direct DM in its app threads and hence soon users can get the feature of Direct DM in threads.

Meta has begun testing messaging features taking advantage of Instagram’s Inbox, allowing users to start sending new messages directly from the Threads app. Some Threads users have already seen the “Message” button replace “Mentions” on other users’ profiles, which means some Threads users have started getting DM access on a trial basis.

Instagram will be needed for DM

A spokesperson for Meta confirmed the development to Engadget, saying that the company is “testing the ability to send a message to Instagram from threads.” However, it is very important for the users to know one thing that even after this update, the users of the threads will not get the facility of their personal DM of the threads, because at present the DM feature which is being tested for Meta Threads is not available on Instagram. Being made available through inbox. Therefore, questions are being raised about the future of Threads’ own private DM feature.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri has reiterated his stance against creating a separate inbox for Threads, expressing a preference for integrating the Instagram inbox itself into the Threads platform. A Meta spokesperson said that testing of bringing DMs into threads is not currently involved. While the direct DM feature in Threads could improve the user experience, Instagram would still need to use Threads to DM, and this could give users an opportunity to complain.
