Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai has told the Rajya Sabha that a total of 10,145 posts are vacant in the Border Security Force (BSF) as of July 1, 2024 this year. Giving further information in the House, he said that out of the 10,145 vacant posts in the BSF, 387 posts are for Gazetted Officers (GO) in Group ‘A’. At the same time, 1,816 posts are for Subordinate Officers (SO) in Group ‘B’. Apart from this, 7,942 posts are for Other Ranks (OR) in Group ‘C’.

Nityanand Rajya further said that a total of 7,372 new posts have been created by the BSF in the last five years between 2020 and 2024. He told how many posts have been created in the BSF every year. According to the data given by him, 7,210 posts were created in 2024, 54 in 2023, not a single post in 2022, 108 posts in 2021. At the same time, no new post was created in 2020 as well.
How many seats are reserved for Agniveers

Let us tell you that just some time ago, the announcement of giving reservation to Agniveers in BSF, CISF was made. According to which, the decision to give 10% reservation to Agniveers in BSF and CISF has been approved. Regarding this, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Raj also said that the government has made a special provision for the recruitment of former Agniveers on the post of Constable (General Duty) in BSF.

Minister Nityanand Rajya told the House that 10 percent of the vacancies in BSF will be reserved for former Agniveers. Apart from this, relaxation of up to three years in the upper age limit will also be given to the former Agniveers. He said that the candidates of the first batch of Agnipath Yojana will be given five years relaxation from the prescribed upper age limit. Apart from this, former Agniveers will also be exempted from Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
