Moeen Ali Comes Out Of Test Retirement: There has been a big change in the England team for the Ashes series 2023. The team’s star all-rounder Moin Ali has taken a U-turn from Test retirement. He has taken back his test retirement. After withdrawing retirement, the star all-rounder has been included in the England squad for the first two matches of the Ashes series 2023 against Australia.
Moin Ali had said goodbye to Test cricket at the end of the 2021 season, but has now been brought back after talks with captain Ben Stokes, coach Brendon McCullum and team managing director Rob Key. Moeen Ali has been included in the team in place of spinner Jack Leach. Jack Leach was ruled out of the Ashes earlier this week due to a hamstring strain.
Rob Key had disclosed in a statement to the ECB, “We approached Moeen Ali earlier this week regarding his return to Test cricket. Responding a few days later, Moeen Ali is excited to join the team and play Test cricket again. His experience as well as his all-round ability will benefit our Ashes campaign. We wish Moeen and the rest of the team all the best for their Ashes campaign.”
Ashes 2023 first Test to be held at Moeen Ali’s home ground
Let us tell you that Ashes 2023 will start from 16th June, Friday. The first match of the five-match Test series will be played at the Edgbaston ground in Birmingham, which is the home ground of Moeen Ali.
Moin Ali has played 64 test matches in his career. Batting in 111 innings of these matches, he scored 2914 runs at an average of 28.29. During this, 5 centuries and 14 half-centuries have come out of his bat, in which his high score has been 155 not out.
