According to Avanti Khand of Skanda Purana, Ujjain, the city of Mahakaal, is the birthplace of Rahu and Ketu. According to the story of this Khand, when Amrit (nectar) came out of Samudra Manthan, the Gods were made to drink it in Mahakaal forest.
