Monsoon is soaking the whole of Uttar Pradesh. Monsoon is moving at a slow pace at some places and fast at others. On Monday morning, good rain was recorded in many areas of the state including Aligarh, Baghpat, Barabanki, Bareilly, Bhadohi, Fatehpur, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Lakhimpur Kheri. By 8:30 in the morning, 110 mm of rain had already fallen in Kheri. By morning, 41.2 mm of rain had already fallen in Kanpur, by evening it increased and 17.6 mm more rain fell. Bareilly also received more than 32 mm of rain.
On the other hand, on the first day of July, the Meteorological Department released the forecast for the entire month. Senior meteorologists of the Regional Meteorological Center, Atul Kumar Singh and Mo. Danish said that there are chances of more than normal rainfall in the month of July.
According to meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, El Niño conditions have ended in the equatorial Pacific Ocean. During this time, there are full chances of it turning into La Niña. Due to this, in the month of July, there are chances of normal or above normal rainfall in most parts of the state except the northeastern part. Rainfall may decrease at some places around Gorakhpur in the northeastern part. Apart from this, there are signs of good monsoon rains as soon as La Niña becomes active during August-September in the latter part of the monsoon season.

La Niña is a condition in which a cold state occurs in the equatorial Pacific region due to the decrease in the sea surface temperature. Whereas El Niño is a type of warm state.

The weather department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rains in many parts of the state. There is a possibility of heavy rains in Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Bandaun and surrounding areas. Orange alert has been issued for these areas.
