Accident after Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra

On Saturday evening, there was electrocution in the pandal made for the people participating in the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra near the zero point of the Katghar. In which eight workers got burnt. At the time of the accident, the workers were preparing to pack up the pandal and go to the next city. Police took the burnt laborers to a private hospital, where one laborer, Naresh Turi (40), died.
He was a resident of Sheela village of Simaria police station area of Chatra district of Jharkhand. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi participated in Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Moradabad on Saturday. The workers and officials had reached Moradabad a day before to join the yatra. For which a pandal was made near zero point in Katghar area.
Workers, officials and other people included in the team stayed here. Before reaching Moradabad, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka had stopped at the pandal built at Zero Point. After this the journey proceeded further. Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra left for Amroha at around 1.30 pm.
After this, the work of removing the pandals and tents installed at various places was being done. Workers from Jharkhand were removing the pandals at zero point. While removing the pandal at around 4.30 pm, the iron rod collided with the power line passing through there. The pandal got electrocuted. In which eight workers got burnt.
This caused a stampede in the pandal. Eight workers got burnt in this accident. While some workers narrowly escaped. After this accident, a crowd gathered on the spot and after the electricity supply was switched off, Naresh Turi, Chhotu Turi, Ashok Yadav, Lakshmi Kumar Singh, Laluturi, Dhanshyam Kumar Turi, Sakaldeep Turi got burnt.
All the laborers are residents of Sheela village of Simaria police station area of Chatra district of Jharkhand. He was admitted to Sunrise Hospital located at Kashipur Tiraha. On receiving information about this, Kashipur Tiraha outpost incharge Om Shukla reached the hospital. When the condition became critical, Naresh Turi and Chhotu Turi were sent to Photon Hospital, where doctors declared Naresh dead.
On receiving information about the accident, Congress leaders also reached the hospital and inquired about the well being of the injured. SP City Akhilesh Bhadauria said that the accident took place while removing the pandal. One person has died due to electric shock while seven have sustained burn injuries. The burnt people have been admitted to the hospital.
