A bridge was constructed in 1960 for traffic over the Ramganga river on Rampur Road near Deer Park. When the Public Works Department’s superintending engineer SP Singh inspected the bridge, he found that the bearings of pillar number seven and eleven had shifted from their place.

Due to this the bridge is not moving. Normally the bridge should move when vehicles move, but this was not happening due to the slipping of the bearing. When the gapping of the bearing increased, it was also checked with a machine. After this the Public Works Department informed Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh about this.

In this case, a team of Mumbai’s IIT expert Dr. Gopal Rai has been called to inspect the bridge. The team will come on Friday. The team will inspect all the pillars and submit a report. On this basis, the Executive Engineer of the provincial section of PWD will prepare the estimate and send it to the government.

Keeping in mind the safety of the people, the superintending engineer of PWD has sent a letter to DM Anuj Singh to stop the movement of vehicles on the bridge. The DM will talk to the police officers and take a decision to stop the traffic.

The closure of two bridges will worsen the traffic system

After Gangan bridge, the traffic system of the city will deteriorate due to the closure of traffic on Ramganga bridge. 23 thousand vehicles pass through Ramganga bridge every day. This is the most accessible route to the city from Uttarakhand, Thakurdwara and Bareilly. There is a four-lane traffic on this route.

The Gangan bridge on Delhi Road has already been closed, although a new bridge has already been built here, but due to the closure of the Ramganga bridge, the pressure of vehicles on the Pandit Nagla bypass road will increase. People will have to come to the city by taking a detour of five kilometers.

Irregularities found in inspection of 50 year old bridges

The government had sought a report from PWD after inspecting 50-year-old bridges. Under this campaign, the superintending engineer has started inspecting all the bridges in the district. After this, the condition of Gangan and Ramganga bridges could be known. During the investigation, there is a possibility of finding irregularities in other bridges as well.
