The work of connecting Delhi Road to Kanth Road has stopped. Now the nearly 1.5 km road falling within the limits of Awas Vikas Parishad will be built only when the colony of Awas Vikas is handed over to the Municipal Corporation. After this order from the Awas Vikas Parishad headquarters, the work of connecting Delhi Road to Sonakpur Bridge has stopped.
MDA is working to reduce traffic pressure in the city and connect Delhi Road to Kanth Road. In this nearly four km long road, one and a half km area falls under the limits of Housing Development Council. MDA administration is constructing a 24 meter wide road to connect Delhi Road to Kanth Road.
It started about a year ago. But the Housing Development Council had put a hurdle in this work by not giving NOC. However, on the intervention of the government, the council gave permission. About six months passed in this process.
After this, the MDA administration also started the work. Most of the road work in its area has been done. As soon as the turn of work came in the area of Awas Vikas Parishad, its officials asked the Nagar Nigam to construct the road after handover.
VC Shailesh Kumar raised this issue in a meeting chaired by Kashmir. After which the Housing Development Council again gave permission to MDA to build the road. When the MDA team wanted to start the road construction work two days ago after the rain subsided, the Housing Development Council team reached there.
Housing Development officials said that the process of handing over the colonies of Housing Development to the Municipal Corporation is underway. Until that process is completed, the MDA should not build a road there. Due to this, the work of connecting Kanth to Delhi Road by the MDA has once again come to a standstill for the last one year.
In my presence, Awas Vikas had agreed to construct the road connecting Kanth to Delhi Road. After that, MDA made preparations for its construction. Now the officials of Awas Vikas are talking about allowing the construction after the colony is handed over to the Municipal Corporation. I have received information about this. On Monday, I will summon the officials of Awas Vikas and talk to them in this regard. – Anjaneya Kumar Singh, Divisional Commissioner
