North West District Police launched a special campaign against anti-social elements ahead of the assembly elections. In the first fortnight of December, the police arrested more than 400 miscreants under Operation Crackdown. This includes 415 wanted criminals including 81 declared criminals.
North West District Police Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Dhania said that more than 1500 policemen participated in this campaign. He said the operation was aimed at curbing criminal activities and ensuring public safety ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. The officer said that the 81 declared criminals arrested were absconding after being released on parole. Along with this, accused involved in organized crime, liquor smuggling, gambling, narcotics and street crimes have been arrested. 61 people were arrested for drug trafficking. At the same time, 53 teenagers wanted in various cases have been detained, out of which 18 were involved in serious cases.
