What is the salary of a Rajya Sabha MP

Talking about the rights of Rajya Sabha MPs, like Lok Sabha MPs, Rajya Sabha MPs have also got many types of rights. Such as – legislative powers, power to amend the Constitution, executive powers, financial powers and miscellaneous powers. At the same time, Rajya Sabha MPs have got two such special rights which Lok Sabha MPs do not have.

The first power in this is given under Article 294 of the Constitution. Actually, any subject of the State List can be declared a subject of national importance by a two-thirds majority of the Rajya Sabha MPs present and participating in the voting. If such a proposal is passed by the Rajya Sabha, then the Parliament can make a law on that subject.

The second power is given under Article 312 of the Constitution. According to this, the Rajya Sabha can give the right to establish new All India Services to the Central Government by passing a resolution with its two-third majority. Whereas, the Lok Sabha cannot do so. Apart from this, until the Rajya Sabha passes such a resolution, the Parliament or the Government of India cannot make arrangements for any new All India Services.
