However, before the 21st century, wearing a bikini openly like this was no less than a challenge. But still there were many actresses who caught everyone’s attention by wearing bikini.
In this list of actresses who wore bikinis in the 70s, one name is that of actress Mumtaz, who was counted among the top actresses of the 1960-70s. The actress wore a bikini for Feroz Khan’s film Apraad in 1972. Recently, the actress has talked about that scene.
‘I said yes because of Feroz Khan…’
In an interview to Zoom, Mumtaz said, ‘I was one of the top actresses. I could have said that I don’t want to wear a bikini. I did not want to wear a bikini, but I said yes only because of Feroz Khan. He promised me that if I did not like this scene, he would edit it.’
Mumtaz had faith in Feroz Khan
Mumtaz further said- ‘I wore a bikini for Feroz Khan. I did not trust him but he trusted me. I had a problem with my usual heavy Iranian thighs. He promised me that if you don’t like it then I will remove it. I knew that I can trust him. If he promised me that he will remove the scene on my request then I was sure that he will not cheat me.’
Many such offers came after the crime
The Crime actress further said, ‘When I saw that scene, I felt that I was looking very good. Later, many makers contacted me for roles and demanded that I wear that dress, but I refused. I never wore a bikini after that.’
‘Today’s heroines are very bold’
Mumtaz further said that things have changed in today’s times. She said- ‘Everything has changed a lot. Today’s heroines are very bold. We never used to wear such revealing clothes. Doesn’t a woman look glamorous even in a sari if it is worn a little low?’
