Nalanda: A newly married woman died under suspicious circumstances in Nalanda. The matter is of Keshopur village under Telhada police station area. The deceased has been identified as Anjali Kumari (18), wife of Shankar Kumar, resident of Keshopur village. The parents reached Bihar Sharif Sadar Hospital on Thursday morning for the post-mortem of the dead body. The family members have accused the in-laws of dowry death.

Regarding the incident, the deceased’s father Rambabu Mistry, resident of Kakopali in Jehanabad district, told that about 15 months ago his daughter had married Shankar Kumar. Shankar Kumar and his family had demanded Rs 2 lakh. For not paying the money, his daughter was strangled to death and then the son-in-law called and informed about the incident. After this they reached the daughter’s in-laws house where they saw that the dead body was lying on the bed.

The parents told that the young man works in making furniture, he was demanding Rs 2 lakh to open a shop. Four days ago also he had called and demanded money and other items. Due to not giving money and goods, he strangled Anjali to death.

Telhada police station Jaiprakash Thakur said that on receiving information about the death, the police reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it to Bihar Sharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The cause of death will be known only after the post mortem report comes. The president’s maternal family is accusing him of dowry death. The husband has been taken into custody and the police started investigating the entire matter.
