Farmers do farming according to the season. In such a situation, some people also cultivate mustard. If you have also cultivated mustard this time, then this news is for you. Today we will also tell you the price of mustard and the reasons for its low price.
Government fixed MSP
Let us tell you that this time the government has fixed the MSP (minimum support price) of mustard at Rs 5,650 per quintal. But this time farmers are getting only Rs 4 thousand to Rs 5 thousand. Most of the farmers are getting worried due to low prices this year.
Mustard Price
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this year i.e. from May 1 to 18 in 2024, 1,67,992 metric tons of mustard has come for sale. But this is much less than last year 2022 and 2023. Talking about 2023, 2,15,278 tonnes of mustard was sold and in 2022, 2,39,615 tonnes of mustard was sold. If we talk about this year, the price of mustard is Rs 5101.78 per quintal, which is much lower than the last two years.
Mustard stored
However, farmers are still hopeful that they can get good prices by the end of this year. That is why some farmers have stored mustard instead of selling it. So that if the prices increase in the coming days, they will make profit instead of loss. This year, farmers have suffered loss on mustard cultivation because the arrival of mustard has decreased by 22 percent this year as compared to last year.
Import of sunflower oil
This year the import duty of edible oils is very low due to which its prices have become cheaper. Apart from this, sunflower oil is being imported in large quantities due to which the demand for mustard has reduced. Let us tell you that this situation may be temporary, the government can increase the fee at any time or find other solutions.
