In Muzaffarpur, late on Saturday night, a speeding container crushed a fruit vendor, killing him on the spot. After this, the container also went out of control and stopped after hitting the divider. This incident took place at Garhan Chowk on Muzaffarpur-Darbhanga four-lane NH-57. At the same time, after this incident, there was chaos at the Chowk and a crowd of local people and villagers gathered at the spot. The deceased fruit vendor has been identified as Gajadhar Mahato (55), a resident of Garhan Ward-5.
On the other hand, the villagers and family members, angry with this incident, blocked the NH. During this, the family members started screaming and crying. On receiving the information of the incident, CO Vishwajit Singh Garhan police station, SHO Ashish Thakur, Bochahan police station in-charge Rakesh Kumar Yadav along with local public representatives reached the spot and after about two hours of effort, the blockade was removed by convincing the family members and villagers. Then the body was taken into custody and sent to the medical college for post-mortem. Meanwhile, the driver of the container fled from the spot. However, the container has been seized.
Regarding the matter, the family said that his father Gajadhar Mahato was returning home after unloading the fruits. Meanwhile, a container ran over him while crossing the road and while trying to escape, he collided with the divider. There is anger among the people about this continuous incident.
SHO Ashish Thakur of Garhan police station reached the spot and said that a fruit vendor was crushed by a container, after which he died. The family had blocked the road. Seeing the ruckus, police from other police stations were called. Taking action in the case, the police have seized the container and the blockage has been removed from the road. The body of the deceased has been taken into custody and sent to the medical college for post-mortem. Action is being taken after investigation.
