The most surprising thing related to Yangkado Hotel is that there is no button for the fifth floor in its lift. There are very strict and strict rules in North Korea regarding this, according to which if a foreign citizen goes to the fifth floor, he may have to rot in the jail here forever.
When the American student reached the 5th floor
It was in the year 2016 when an American student named Otto Warmbier moved to the fifth floor of the Yangkado Hotel. Then the North Korean police immediately took him into custody. It was alleged that he had uprooted a poster on the fifth floor of the hotel. After this Otto Warmbier was put on trial and he was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was also tortured a lot during interrogation. Although he was later released, Otto Warmbier fell into a coma after returning to the US and died in June 2017.
Anti-American paintings on hotel walls
Calvin Sun, another American citizen who stayed at the Yangkado Hotel, says that on the fifth floor of the hotel small rooms have been made like a bunker and most of the rooms are locked. There are anti-American and anti-Japanese paintings on the walls of the rooms. Some of these pictures are also of Kim Jong Un’s father Kim Jong Il. It is said that on every painting made there, ‘Everything made in America is our enemy, we will take revenge from America a thousand times’ is written.
