Expansion

The condition of the people living in Kosuk Mahadalit colony located in Ward-49 of Bihar Sharif Municipal Corporation area of Nalanda district is very pathetic. Former chairman of the State Mahadalit Commission and former RJD MLA Uday Kumar Manjhi, who recently visited this colony, expressed deep concern over this situation.

Displacement and lack of facilities

Manjhi said that about 72 Mahadalit families were displaced from N-30. These families were allotted two decimal places of land each along the Bihar Sharif-Rajgir main road. But it is sad that even after so much time has passed, these families have not been able to get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Nor have they been provided with other essential facilities, such as water, electricity and sanitation. These people are forced to live in huts. Manjhi accused the local administration and public representatives of not taking any concrete steps to help these people.

Lack of planning and indifference of local administration

Manjhi said that the residents of this settlement are always given assurances, but in reality there has been no improvement. He said that this matter raises questions on the claims of the state government that efforts are being made for the upliftment of the weakest sections of the society.

‘Will take this issue to SC Commission and Chief Minister’

Seeing this serious situation, Manjhi announced that he will take the issue to the SC Commission Delhi and the Chief Minister. Their objective is to provide basic facilities to the residents of Mahadalit colony as soon as possible, so that their standard of living can improve. Manjhi said he hoped that raising the issue would provide relief to local residents and solve their problems.
