National Technology Day How India became a nuclear testing country despite America surveillance the whole world was shocked

May 11 is a very special day in the history of India, because National Technology Day is celebrated today. On this day, India conducted a nuclear test. If you have seen the film Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, then you would be aware that this test was not so easy. With this test, India had joined the powerful countries of the world. But it was not so easy to conduct this test while avoiding powerful countries like America. The full credit for this test goes to all those engineers, army officers, scientists along with the then Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the then Chief Scientific Advisor to the PM, APJ Abdul Kalam. Who made India a nuclear power.

nuclear test

Let us tell you that after the three nuclear tests conducted in Pokhran, Rajasthan, May 11 is celebrated as National Technology Day. Today it has been 26 years since Nuclear Test II took place on Pokhran land on 11 May 1998. It is noteworthy that India had conducted three nuclear tests near Khettolai village in Pokhran Field Firing Range. This nuclear test conducted in Pokhran was named Operation Shakti.

Three explosions occurred one after the other

Let us tell you that 26 years ago, on this day, three tests were conducted one after the other in the firing range, 5 km away from Khettolai. This explosion was so powerful that it echoed the entire area and the cloud of explosion was visible towards the sky. After this, scientists conducted a nuclear test on 13 May.

America’s vigilance did not work

The then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee also visited the blast site in the country after the nuclear test. When India announced to the world that it had nuclear power, the whole world was stunned because the intelligence agency of any country including America had no idea about it.
After this test, America’s CIA agency also admitted that the Indian government had succeeded in dodging the intelligence agencies of the world including America. Because at that time America’s intelligence agency CIA used to keep an eye on India from moment to moment. Not only this, the CIA had spent crores of rupees and installed satellites to closely guard India. But despite all these challenges, India had successfully carried out Operation Shakti on the land of Pokhran.

Why only Pokhran?

This question comes in the mind of many people that why did the government conduct the test in Pokhran only. Actually, keeping in mind the safety of its citizens, the Indian government had chosen a place where there is no population. This is the reason why Pokhran was chosen to conduct nuclear tests. Pokhran is a town situated on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur road, 110 kilometers away from Jaisalmer. During the test, all the engineers and scientists, including former President APJ Abdul Kalam, wore army uniforms and everyone had different names and codes. After so many struggles, India became a nuclear power country at 3.45 pm on May 11.
