F-16 Fighter Jet: Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, NATO members have announced that they have started sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. After the NATO summit in Washington, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday (July 10, 2024) that the first consignment of US-made F-16 fighter planes is being sent to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands. He said that very soon the F-16 will be flying in the skies of Ukraine.
F-16 aircraft will fly in the skies of Ukraine
According to a Reuters report, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Ukraine can effectively protect itself from Russian aggression this summer. Ukraine has long been demanding F-16 fighter jets to respond to attacks from Russia. US President Joe Biden approved the deal in August 2023, agreeing to give these planes to Ukraine.
‘Now NATO’s Ukraine has sent F-16 planes’
The US Secretary of State challenged that this fighter jet being sent to Ukraine should be a strong message for Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said, “The Russian President has become focused on the fact that he will not be able to stay in the war with Ukraine for much longer.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last week that he wants to double the capacity of his air force. Zelensky had said that he would need at least seven more radar systems to protect his country.
NATO members will also send radar system
NATO members have also announced to send five radar systems to help Ukraine. A statement issued by NATO members said that we are committed to further enhancing Ukraine’s air capabilities. At the summit organized on the occasion of NATO’s 75th anniversary, US President Joe Biden claimed that Russia is lagging behind in this war.
