NCERT Selects ETS For PARAKH Regulation: The National Council of Education Research and Training has selected ETS to implement the National Assessment Regulatory Program ‘Parakh’. Educational Testing Service made this announcement recently. Let us tell you that ‘Parakh’ is the first National Assessment Regulator program of the country. Educational Testing Service (ETS), American Institutes for Research (AIR) and Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) expressed their willingness to cooperate when the matter of implementing ‘Parakh’ was raised. Out of these, ETS has been selected for this work. All these three are non-profit educational organizations.
What is Parakh and how will it work
For a long time, there was a demand that due to the huge disparity in the numbers of all the boards, students are not getting equal opportunities. To eliminate this disparity and to provide a comparatively equal opportunity to all the students, a plan was made to create an assessment regulatory body which came to the fore as ‘Parakh’. ‘Parakh’ means Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development. ETS has been selected to implement this.
How will ‘Parakh’ work?
- Its main task is to increase cooperation between all the boards across the country.
- Through this, an attempt will be made to remove the disparity in the scores of students belonging to different boards.
- This will be applicable under the National Education Policy 2020.
- All aspects of the design of the ‘Parakh’ survey will be reviewed.
- Under the NEP, ‘Parakh’ will act as a body to standardize the method of evaluation of marks of students of all school boards in the country.

Announcing ETS as the technical partner for PARAKH, Professor Indrani Bhaduri, Head, Educational Survey Division, NCERT, said, ‘PARKH has been mandated by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on behalf of NCERT, Ministry of Education, Government of India. is in the process of setting up and is pleased to have ETS as a technical partner in this endeavour.
