Ranchi: We all have a home, family and relations. Similarly, even the gods had brothers, sisters and maternal uncles and aunts. Lord Jagannath’s maternal aunt’s house is in Palamu, 165 km from Ranchi. This house is 200 meters away from the Jagannath temple in Palamu. Know why the Nagavanshi king Thakur Aninath built this temple?
Jagannath Temple of Ranchi
Jagannath temple in Ranchi was built in 1691. Nagavanshi king Thakur Aninath Shahdev built this temple related to Lord Krishna. The successor of the temple trust tells that the king’s 3 brothers had gone for pilgrimage. When many days passed, they became restless. After this the king himself went on pilgrimage. Then the king started traveling from south to north. The environment was not at all conducive to travel. Crossing the forest and dense trees, he traveled for 6 months. Then he reached Jagannath Puri. Seeing the faith of the people, he also believed in Lord Jagannath.
God goes to his aunt’s house once a year
The journey of Lord Jagannath is called Gundicha. Because when this temple was established, Indradaman’s wife Gundicha was doing penance. She did penance at the time when Indradaman had gone out to call Brahmadev for Pran Pratishtha. When he came back, he saw that she is still immersed in devotion. Then Indradaman made a wish. He asked Lord Jagannath that both of them should never have a child, so that his son does not call the temple his land tomorrow. After this, Lord Jagannath blessed him. He said, ‘From now on I consider you my aunt and will definitely come to your house once a year.’ Since then, this is called the house of Lord Jagannath (Krishna)’s aunt.
Aurangzeb attacked
Aurangzeb had attacked this temple. The temple was also vandalized by calling it impure. Due to this, the temple collapsed. But the temple was rebuilt in 1992. The structure of this temple and the method of worship resembles the temple of Puri and Orissa. The idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra are present in this temple.
All families were given the responsibility
Since the construction of the temple, all the nearby families are shouldering the responsibility together. The Oraon family brings the bell for the temple. The Munda family’s job is to hoist the flag. People of the Rajwar and Ahir castes have been given the responsibility of taking care of the sanctum sanctorum. The Kumhar family provides earthen pots.
mysterious incident
In the year 2022, something happened in this temple which was difficult to understand. The floor of the temple suddenly started getting very hot. So hot that the ghee could melt. People say that whatever happened in the temple is no less than a mystery.
How to reach
