Nectar also falls on this sweet on the night of Sharad Purnima! It is prepared here once a year… the holy offering of God.

Bhopal. Although there are many food options in the capital Bhopal, there is also a shop where sweets are prepared only to be offered to God on special days. This sweet is also something different, which is called Chapadi. There is a shop of Shri Pandit Ji Sweet in Bal Mukund Ki Bagiya Dharamshala in the old city. Here on the day of Sharad Purnima, Chapadi is made in 4 hours, which is in huge demand.

Shop operator Sanjay Kumar Sharma told Local 18 that he made it with the help of his father late. Learned from Shiv Narayan Sharma. His ancestors’ shop earlier used to be in Chowk, but in 1971, Balmukund’s garden shifted to Dharamshala. Since then he makes this sweet here only. Sanjay Sharma said, since the time of our father, we have been following the tradition of making sweets on the day of Sharad Purnima. Earlier it was made in many shops in the city, but now it is available only in our shop.

Been making these sweets for 54 years
Sanjay told that he has been following the tradition of making chapadi for almost 54 years. Chapdi has great importance on the day of Sharad Purnima. It is especially used in worship. This sweet is kept in moonlight at night. People believe that God showers nectar on this sweet, which women then feed to their families and pray for their long life.

This is how chapadi is made
Gum, sugar, ghee and black pepper are used to make chapadi. It is said that due to change in weather in October, both winter and summer seasons continue. In such a situation, symptoms of cold, cough and fever are seen. This sweet is also considered effective in removing all these types of symptoms.
