NEET UG Result 2024: NTA Senior Officer says top rankers reduced to 61 as grace marks withdrawn after supreme court decision

The number of toppers in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) will decrease from 67 to 61. Actually, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to withdraw the grace marks given to 1563 students, due to which this change will happen. This information was given by the officials on Thursday (13 June).

The central government gave this answer

According to the information, these six candidates, who were among the 1563 successful candidates, had given the exam from the same center in Haryana and shared the first rank with the top-61 candidates. Let us tell you that there is a controversy all over the country regarding the result of NEET UG 2024. After this, the central government said in the Supreme Court on Thursday that the grace marks given to all those 1563 students who had given the exam for MBBS and other similar courses will be withdrawn. In such a situation, these candidates will have only two options. First, they can take the exam again and second, they can return the grace marks.

NTA official gave this information

A senior NTA official said that six candidates out of these 1563 candidates had secured the first rank along with 61 candidates. After the grace marks are withdrawn, the number of top rankers will decrease from 67 to 61. The official said that if these six candidates do not take the test again and score 720 out of 720 marks, they will not be able to get the top rank again.

Will it affect the rank of other candidates?

The NTA officer was also asked about the impact on the ranks of other candidates. He said that the scores of all 1563 candidates will be pre-normalization scores, not the scores with grace marks. Once we find out how many candidates want to take the test again, we will release the revised rank list.

Will it make any difference to counseling?

When the NTA official was asked about the change in the date of counseling, he said that there will be no change in it. The counseling process will be held on July 6. The Supreme Court has clarified in its order that the admission of successful candidates in medical colleges and other institutions will be done in the normal way. The court has given relief by dismissing the petitions filed for cancellation of the exam. Let us tell you that NTA has fixed the date of June 23 for re-conducting the exam, the results of which will be declared by June 30.
