Nepal Plane Crash: How much compensation do the families of the deceased get after a plane crash, the insurance company gives this much money

A Saurya Airlines plane 9N-AME (CRJ 200) crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the capital of India’s neighboring country Nepal. It is being told that so far 18 people have died in this plane crash. In the initial information, technical fault is being told behind this accident.

Actually, as soon as the plane took off on Tuesday morning, it crashed to the ground within a few seconds. After this accident, people on social media are trying to know whether the family members of the people who lost their lives in the plane crash also get insurance money. Let us give you detailed information about the law related to this today.

What is the compensation rule in India?

If a domestic plane in India meets with an accident and if someone dies in this accident, then there is a provision for compensation. In fact, in the year 2014, the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued a gazette notification, which said that if a domestic plane crashes, then the family of each person who loses his life in that accident will be given a compensation of Rs 20 lakhs.

Different rules for international planes

While the family members of the deceased get a compensation of Rs 20 lakhs in case of a domestic plane crash, the rules are different for international planes. If an international flight crashes, then the family members of those who die in that accident get 1,13,100 SDR (Special Drawing Right) from the airline. If converted into Indian rupees, it will be around Rs 1 crore 24 lakhs. Apart from this, whatever compensation the Indian government wants to give, that will be given separately to the families of the deceased.

How to take insurance

Now the question arises whether the passenger has to take insurance while buying a plane ticket like he does for a train ticket. Actually, when we book a train ticket in India, we also buy insurance of some amount with that ticket. This is so that if something untoward happens to the passenger in an accident, his family gets compensation. However, this does not happen with plane tickets. Actually, another rule applies with planes. When a plane is about to take off, the entire flight is insured before that.
