New Parliament Roof Leakage CPWD clarifies reason heat and rain eroded silicon from glass UP Akhilesh Yadav

New Parliament Roof Leakage: Due to heavy rains in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday (31 July 2024), many areas including VIP areas were flooded. During this, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav posted a video on social media platform X, in which water was seen dripping from the roof of the new Parliament building. Now the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has issued a statement regarding this.

The department said, “Due to extreme heat and subsequent heavy rains, the silicone on the glass of the Lok Sabha skylight got destroyed, causing this minor problem. It was resolved immediately. The structure of the Parliament, waterproofing etc. are in good condition.”

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav strongly targeted the central government over this. He said, “The old parliament was better than this new parliament, where even the old MPs could come and meet. Why not go back to the old parliament, at least till the time the water dripping program is going on in the parliament built with billions of rupees. The public is asking whether the water dripping from every new roof built under the BJP government is a part of their well thought out new design or…”

Several other opposition leaders, including Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and Congress MP Manickam Tagore, have also mocked the BJP over the video. TMC MP Mahua Moitra said, “Water is leaking from the new Parliament lobby. It is only fair that it has become dilapidated after the 2024 Lok Sabha results. Another case has been leaked from Bharat Mandapam.”
