IIT Kanpur achieved great success on Wednesday. Chemical powder was dropped in the air above IIT with the help of Cessna aircraft from a height of five thousand feet. After this artificial rain started. The test flight took place after permission from the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

In fact, IIT Kanpur successfully conducted a test flight for cloud seeding on 23 June. The project was initiated a few years ago and is led by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur.

Professor Manindra Agarwal, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, said that a unique experiment was done at IIT Kanpur. A test flight for cloud seeding has been successfully conducted. A Cessna aircraft was flown with a cloud-seeding attachment purchased from a manufacturer in the US. The agents were dispersed using flares as per standard practice in the test flight.

Let us tell you that in case of high air pollution and drought, relief can be given by artificial rain. IIT Kanpur has been working on this project since the year 2017, but the matter was stuck for many years due to lack of permission from DGCA. After all the preparations, DGCA has given permission for the test flight. The Uttar Pradesh government had given permission for the trial of cloud seeding several years back.
