NHAI New Fastag Guidelines: Fastag was introduced in India in the year 2014. Before that, people had to pay money themselves at the toll plaza and get a slip. In which they had to stand in long queues. And a lot of time was wasted. But now with the advent of Fastag, it has become very easy. Now people just have to put Fastag on their vehicles.
After this, as soon as you reach the toll plaza, the machine immediately scans and deducts the money from the account. So in the meantime, now the National Highway Authority of India has changed the rules regarding Fastag. If you do not follow them, you may have to pay a hefty amount. NHAI has now made it mandatory to install Fastag on the windshield.

The National Highway Authority of India has now changed the rules regarding Fastag. NHAI has issued a new advisory and instructed the toll plazas to fine vehicles which do not have Fastag properly. Double fine will be charged from such vehicles. The circular issued states that if a vehicle comes in the Fastag lane but does not have Fastag installed on its windshield.
So in such a situation, the toll operator or the toll collection agencies should charge double the amount. Along with this, it has been said that the toll collector should keep displaying the information about the penalty provisions publicly so that people can be aware of it. Along with this, the CCTV footage and vehicle number after imposing the fine should be kept safely so that proper records can be maintained.
Why is Fastag necessary on windshield?
Fastag should be installed in such a place on the vehicle where it can be read very easily. The best place for this is always the windshield of the vehicle. If the fast tag is installed here, then it is easily read by the camera and you do not even have to wait in line.
Without fast tag, you have to pay this much fine
If someone’s vehicle does not have a fast tag and he goes on the expressway, then in the meantime he comes across a toll plaza, then according to the rules, you have to pay double the toll. For example, if you have to pay Rs 150 on the road you are travelling on, then if you do not have a fast tag, then in such a situation you will have to pay Rs 300.
