Chandan Gupta Murder Case: In the famous Chandan Gupta murder case of Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, the NIA Special Court of Lucknow will announce the punishment today i.e. on Friday (January 3, 2025). Earlier on Thursday (January 2), the NIA Special Court had convicted 28 accused in the Chandan Gupta murder case, while acquitted two accused.
Tiranga Yatra was taken out on 26 January 2018 in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. According to media reports, when the yatra was taken out on the morning of 26 January 2018, Chandan Gupta was with his brother Vivek Gupta and other friends. As soon as this Tricolor Yatra reached near GGIC gate located on Tehsil Road of Kasganj, Salim, Wasim, Naseem and others blocked their path.
Chandan was shot in the firing
However, when Chandan lodged an objection to stopping the procession, the situation worsened on the spot and a group of accused pelted stones at him. Not only this, firing was also done on them during the procession. Salim, one of the main accused, had fired at Chandan Gupta, after which he was injured. After the incident, Chandan’s brother and other friends took him to Kasganj police station, from where he was immediately taken to the hospital, but Chandan died due to bullet injury.
Chandan will get justice after six years
According to media reports, the police had arrested more than 100 people along with the main accused Wasim, Naseem, Salim in this case. However, many people were later released. Chandan’s father fought a legal battle for about six years.
Petition of accused rejected
Earlier, the accused had filed a petition in the High Court to stay the legality and hearing of the NIA court. Which was rejected by the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court. After the petition was rejected by the High Court, the NIA Special Court of Lucknow on Thursday convicted 28 accused.
