Nitish Bhardwaj: The TV show Mahabharata, which aired on the small screen in the year 1988, created a special place in the hearts of the people. This serial of BR Chopra got love from every corner of the country. Even today people prefer to watch the old Mahabharata only. Nitish Bhardwaj got the most popularity from this show. He played the role of Lord Krishna in Mahabharata. Seeing Nitish’s acting in this character, people were impressed by him, but do you know that he was not at all ready to do the role for which he is still recognized.
Nitish did not want to play the role of Krishna
Actually, Nitish had gone to audition for another character for the show. If reports are to be believed, he had given a screen test for Vidur’s character. After this, he was also selected, but shortly before the shooting, this role slipped from his hand. After this, Nitish wanted to play the role of Abhimanyu on the small screen, but he did not get this role either. Later he was offered the role of Krishna, which he flatly refused to do. Nitish was very young in those days, due to which he wanted a veteran artist to play this role.
When BR Chopra called to meet
Nitish was called many times from the production side, but he kept on postponing every time. One day he was called by BR Chopra himself and said that I have been calling you for audition for many days, but you are ignoring. You were always on the lookout for a good role. At least give a screen test once. After listening to BR Chopra, he agreed to give audition.
Again ‘bribe’ did the job
BR Chopra’s son Ravi Chopra knew that Nitish likes samosas and kachoris very much, so when the actor came to meet him, he ordered tea and samosas. During this, Chopra saheb also explained him well about the character. Nitish played this role well after explaining the samosas and the character in the form of ‘bribe’. Even today he is recognized because of this character.
