The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.
Dr. Jairambhai Chemabhai Gamit of BJP defeated Sunilbhai Ratanjibhai Gamit of INC by 23,160 votes in Nijar assembly seat of Tapi district. BJP candidate got 97,461 votes while Congress got 74,301 votes here. You were at number three. Its candidate Arvindbhai Singabhai Gamit got 35,781 votes, which was 16.08 percent of the total votes. The deposits of four including AAP and BTP candidates were forfeited. Whereas, NOTA got 4,465 votes.
Congress got victory in 2017
The Congress had won the Niger seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, Congress made Sunilbhai Ratanjibhai Gamit its candidate from this seat. Sunilbhai defeated BJP’s Kantilalbhai Gamit by 23,000 votes. A total of six candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the other four candidates were forfeited. Kantilal Bhai Gamit had won from here in 2012 on a BJP ticket. The Congress had won here in 2007, 2002 and 1998. Congress’s Paresh Singh Bhai Vasava had won all the three elections.
In 1995, the BJP won the Niger seat for the first time. Sureshbhai Padavi had opened the BJP’s account in this seat by defeating Punjibhai Valvi of Congress. Congress had won here in all the previous elections.
