Chikhvi Recipe: Chikhvi is a traditional specialty dish of the North East state Tripura. Oil is not used to make it. Chikhvi is a non-veg dish prepared from pork. Bamboo is also used to make it. If you are a foodie and like to prefer different flavors in non-veg too, then you can try Chikhvi dish. Chikhvi dish is also a center of attraction for tourists visiting Tripura. In the series of North East Famous Food Recipe Special, today we will tell you the simple recipe of Assamese Pitha.
Apart from pork, jackfruit seeds, green papaya, rice flour and bamboo shoots are also used to make Chakhvi. Apart from this, many people also use local vegetables and pulses to make this dish.

Ingredients for Chikhvi
Bamboo shoots (peeled and chopped) – 500 grams
Pork meat – 250 grams
Green papaya – 150 grams
Jackfruit seeds – 150 grams
Green chili – 4-5
Baking soda – 2 tsp
Ginger paste – 2 tsp
Rice flour paste – 1 cup
Lemon leaves chopped – 8-10
Turmeric – 1 tsp
salt – as per taste

Chikhvi recipe
To make Chikhvi, first peel the bamboo shoot and then cut it. Finely chop green chillies and lemon leaves. After this, put 1 cup of rice flour in a utensil and prepare a paste by mixing a little water in it. Now take a big pan and put pork, baking soda and salt as per taste in it, add water as needed and boil all the ingredients.

After boiling all the things without covering for about 15-20 minutes, add ginger paste, turmeric powder, rice flour paste, jackfruit seeds and green papaya to it. Now cover the vessel and cook all the things for 20-25 minutes so that the ingredients can become soft properly. After the Chikhvi is cooked, put finely chopped lemon leaves in it and cook without covering it for some time. Chikhvi is ready, serve it with plain rice.
