One such famous dish of Meghalaya is Jadoh. It is also called Khasi Pulao or Meghalaya Pulao. Jadoh recipe prepared from rice is very much liked. Mainly this dish is prepared in Meghalaya only. If you like to try new flavours, then this time you can try Jadoh. It is easy to make and does not take much time either.

Ingredients for making jadoh
Basmati rice – 1 cup
Potato chopped – 1
Onion chopped – 1
Carrot chopped – 1
Coriander-mint-green chili paste – 2 tsp
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
Bay leaves – 2
Phool Chakri – 1
Cinnamon – 1 piece
Black pepper – 1 tsp
Small cardamom – 2
Big cardamom – 1
Cloves – 3-4
Desi ghee – 2 tbsp
salt – as per taste

Jadoh recipe
To make Jadoh, first clean and wash the rice thoroughly with water and keep it soaked for 15-20 minutes. After this cut onions, carrots and potatoes into pieces. Now prepare a paste of coriander, mint and chili with the help of a mixer. After this, make a ginger-garlic paste and keep both of them separately. Now take a pressure cooker and put ghee in it and heat it on medium flame. When the ghee melts, add finely chopped onions to it and fry while stirring.

When the onion turns golden brown, add ginger-garlic paste to it, mix and fry while stirring. After roasting all the ingredients well, mix 2 spoons of coriander-mint paste and add potatoes, carrots and soaked rice and mix with a ladle. After this add water as per requirement and salt as per taste, close the lid of the cooker and cook till 3 to 4 whistles.

After this, turn off the gas and let the pressure of the cooker release on its own. After the cooker cools down, take out the Jadoh/Khasi Pulao in a big bowl and garnish with green coriander leaves (optional). Flavorful Jadoh is ready. This recipe can be served in lunch or dinner.
