Not broiler….raise Sonali, Vanraja and Kadaknath, they will give five times the profit, you can earn comfortably throughout your life

West Champaran. Poultry farming is a good business. If you want more profit in it, then it will be beneficial to raise special and high breed chickens instead of local chickens. Animal husbandry scientists say that special breed chickens can be raised in all the districts of West Champaran and Bihar. These include Sonali, Vanraja and Kadaknath. However, the growth of chickens of these breeds is a little late compared to broilers. But to run the poultry farm business for a long time, the farmers should raise chickens of breeds like Sonali, Kadaknath and Vanraja, not broilers.

Fear of loss in broiler farming
Dr. Jagpal, animal husbandry expert of Madhopur Krishi Vigyan Kendra, says that most farmers raise broiler chickens for poultry farming. The reason for this is that broilers grow faster than other breeds of poultry. They are ready for business soon. The sooner they start giving profit, the higher is the rate of loss in them. The fear of disease is the highest in broilers. If even a mild disease starts in birds, then its effect is first on broiler chickens. Also, they are not as nutritious or expensive as Sonali, Kadaknath and Vanraja species of poultry. Therefore, farmers are always afraid of loss in broiler farming.

These breeds will give profit
Dr. Jagpal says that commercially, the growth of Sonali, Kadaknath and Vanaraja breed of chicken is a little late as compared to broilers. Sonali breed chickens take about 3 months to be ready, while Kadaknath and Vanaraja breed chickens take 4 to 5 months to be ready. The good thing is that they never get any disease. Also, they get a very good price in the market as compared to the cost. Therefore, farmers never face the risk of loss in poultry farming.

Kadaknath Sonali is five times more expensive
Generally, it costs around Rs 100 to prepare a broiler. These chickens become saleable (weighing around 1 kg) in just 40 days. It costs around Rs 550 to prepare special breeds of birds like Sonali, Vanraja and Kadaknath, these birds are ready to give meat and eggs throughout their life. The price of a broiler in the market ranges from Rs 200 to Rs 240 per kg. The price of special breeds of chickens ranges from Rs 1000 to Rs 1200 (1.2–1.5 kg per chicken) in the market.
