Mohammed Siraj’s Reaction on Fifer: In the second test being played between India and West Indies, India’s star bowler Mohammad Siraj appeared in a very good rhythm. While bowling in the first innings, he took the second 5-wicket haul of his Test career by sending 5 West Indies batsmen to the pavilion. On this, Siraj told that taking five wickets on a flat wicket was not easy at all.
After the end of the third day of the match, Paras Mhambre told the Indian bowling that it would not be easy to take 20 wickets on this wicket. After the completion of the third day, the Indian team had dropped only 4 wickets in 67 overs. On the morning of the fourth day, Mohammad Siraj took 4 wickets in just 3.4 overs due to his excellent swing. Through this inning, Siraj also achieved the best figure of his Test career, 60/5.
After the end of the fourth day in the match, Siraj said, “First of all, this performance was great because taking 5 wickets on such a flat wicket was not easy. The pitch was not doing much. I just wanted to keep stump to stump. If there is a seam from there, then it is very good. This was my plan, just to keep executing this simple plan.”
Siraj further said, “Today we also had the new ball, so it was swinging. Tomorrow we will start with the old ball, we have to keep a simple plan, don’t give away too many runs and keep on applying the pressure.
Keeping body warm in rain and humidity is not easy: Siraj
Talking about the condition of Trinidad, Siraj said, “It is hot and humid here. It is also raining. As a fast bowler it is a challenge to keep yourself warm when you are off the field and the body tends to relax and cool down faster. As a fast bowler, it is difficult to bowl long spells in such humidity. I try to keep my body warm and just stick to the simple plan.”
